NOVA NoGrid contains a range of functions that make distorted, multi-projected images regular and seamless.

The first is a capability for calibrating color across multiple projectors. Color calibration includes gamma correction based on Bezier color profiles of red, green, and blue components. In addition, the color levels of each RGB component can be altered to ensure regularity across the projectors. Secondly, NOVA NoGrid provides non linear distortion correction capability. Some screens cause distorted projected images according to the shape of the screen. With NOVA NoGrid, it is possible to correct the distorted image on the screen to display a regular image. Its last principal function is edge blending for removing the seams between projected images on the screen. For edge blending, the projected images are first overlapped and then the seams are removed by using a simple and intuitive calibration tool.

It is possible to purchase hardware solutions that also provide these functions. However, NOVA NoGrid offers several advantages over these products: It is less expensive, it runs no risk of failure and it comes with an intuitive user interface that allows rapid and simple calibration of very large multi-channel projection images. The calibration software can be executed from any computer on the local network and, as it supports multi-configuration, the proper configuration according to resolution of image and refresh rate, can be chosen.

These functions are compatible with any other OpenGL applications at the source level. Customers with in-house PC-cluster, multi-channel applications which are developed with OpenGL e.g. OpenGL Perfomer from SGI, Vega Prime from Multigen-Paradigm etc - can easily integrate them with NOVA NoGrid through adding some function calls to the source code.
