April 2, 2004 Visionmax International
Limited (''VMIL''), a UK-based supplier of Integrated
Multi-Channel Visualization Systems for Multi-media
and 3D Graphics, is pleased to announce that it
has slashed the cost of its stereo display visualization
products and launched a new range of products
designed for the AV, Entertainment and Marketing
Sectors.
Since its launch in June 2003, VMIL's product
range has been designed for stereo (active or
passive) multiple-projector display systems typically
used in the Simulation industry. The VisionMax¢â
range of PC-cluster image generators are supplied
with NOVA Infinity multi-channel visualization
software that has a range of special features
including perspective correction, non-linear distortion
correction and seamless edge blending. These features
allow users to create displays on plane, flexed,
cylindrical or spherical screens that show a single
cohesive image of any size, limited only by the
number of projectors that are installed. To date,
the largest project undertaken by VMIL has been
a 33-channel (driving 33 projectors) installation
although the maximum number of images that can
be edge-blended and distortion corrected is 64.
The percentage reduction in prices of VisionMax¢â
systems varies depending on the configuration
chosen but examples of commonly used configurations
are:
- 3 channel Passive Stereo System reduced from
$73,750 to $53,100 (¡Ì30,000)
- 4 channel Active Stereo CAVEa with Tracker
Support reduced from $134,500 to $85,700 (¡Ì48,000)
- Single channel Passive Stereo system (inc.
120'' Screen, 2x4200 ANSI projectors, filters
and frame) reduced from $37,500 to $29,100 (¡Ì16,500).
New Products
VMIL's latest products, designed for the AV,
entertainment and marketing industries, are NOVA
Movie¢â and NOVA Movie Plus¢â. Both products are
available in the same range of configurations
as the stereo systems (i.e. up to 64 channels
with a full range of screen shapes) but are designed
for mono video displays only. NOVA Movie¢â allows
users to create fully edge-blended and distortion-corrected
video displays without the lines between channels
that are typically seen on video walls. NOVA Movie
Plus¢â offers the same functionality but also supports
input from HDTV devices.
VMIL is also offering new software plug-in for
the simulation industry that will allow developers
to add edge-blending and distortion correction
to any existing OpenGL application.
Commenting on the new products and prices, Ben
Vaughan, Managing Director of VMIL, said:
''Since founding the Company 9 months ago, a
large proportion of inquiries about our products
have come from the AV industry who want edge-blending
and distortion correction but have no requirement
for stereo displays. We have decided to pursue
these opportunities and now have a range of affordable
and competitively priced solutions. As part of
this review, we also analyzed our core market
and competitors and decided that we could gain
a massive competitive advantage by reducing our
prices and offering the new plug-in software to
extend the range of software that can run on our
systems''.
